I let my Instagram followers choose my hair color. Given the option between red tips and hidden rainbow hair, the majority chose the later. I know what you’re thinking: this girl is crazy for letting strangers pick something as personal as her hair color. Honestly, I needed the change and I hadn’t done anything with my hair for over a year. I even asked for recommendations to local hair salons around Connecticut. Then, I picked a stylist at Sculptures Salon in Southington who was I was referred to via social media. Paula was amazing and helped make my vision come to life by mixing my Lisa Frank inspired colors.
Hidden Rainbow Hair Process
My stylist had blue and purple hair, herself so I knew I was in good hands. She had already mapped out the colors and the order since we had already discussed what I wanted: a Lisa Frank rainbow.
Bleach
It took two rounds of bleach for my hair to get to a pale enough blonde for Paula to work her magic.

Overall, I am obsessed with how my hair came out and beyond impressed! If I let my hair down you wouldn’t be able to tell I had a rainbow there, but I’d know ;P mwahaha. Business on top, party underneath!

I think it looks great, but I would worry about fading or your hair growing out. I tend to go several months between hair appointments, so it wouldn’t be for me.
I was told it would fade to pastel colors before going back to blonde, but I could touch it up whenever I feel like it. Since it’s underneath the roots won’t be an issue for quite a while. Maintenance was a big reason I hadn’t colored my hair in over a year
I just wish I still had hair! 🙂 My niece has been coloring her hair in different shades for years now. Purple, pink, rainbow you name it. She’s 40 and still rocks a colorful heard of hair. I say whatever makes you happy, do it! It looks great on you.
Yes, I know a lot of people who have restrictions on hair colors because of where they work, but I’m lucky to be able to express myself through my hair. Everyone who knows me says my hair suits my personality well

Lol that’s what my stylist said and then she said “well, you gotta risk it for the biscuit.” Luckily, this was worth the risk!

Rainbow hair looks wild – I’ll have to share this with my daughter, she loves putting bright colours on her hair. Since mine has been starting to go grey I’ve never bothered colouring it back to my natural colour because I don’t care about the grey – but I’m definitely tempted by these colours!

When I read the post title, I was curious to find out what you mean. A hidden rainbow, that looks amazing. Obviously, you have enjoyed the whole process. I may not feel bold enough to give it a go, yet I appreciate the style.

I love the fact you left the top layer dark, so you can cover it up, and it adds another dimension to the color. All working together to pop. I can’t say I would ever do this, but I do dye my hair every 4-6 months. My hair is also well past my waist at this point too, so it’s always a ton of product to deal with. Im just happy to cover the grey and cut the split ends off. Lol.
