I worked as an administrative intern at my university‘s Study Abroad Office and to advertise for our study abroad fair last October, it was my job to write chalk messages around campus to raise awareness for the event.

“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer $$ (figuratively)”

Before I could chalk I had to get permission. Otherwise, the Student Affairs Office would wash it away. I couldn’t have any chalk drawings/writing under overhangs. I could only reserve up to three days for chalking. After the second day, it rained and the chalk washed away. Thankfully, a lot of my friends told me they had seen the messages. Also, students asked me about the fair while I was chalking in the late evening and I answered.

Chalking was fun, but it made me miss going through the process of going abroad too. That’s precisely why I’m going abroad again to Spain for an International Business class during Spring Break (so excited!).  It makes me happy that some students currently going to study abroad for spring semester saw the chalk and decided to give studying abroad a chance. It was one of the best decisions I ever made so I’m glad to be able to help others find their own dream destinations.
