Subtle Ways To Transform Your Face

The winter is on the way. And since time immemorial, the winter has represented a symbolic death and rebirth. It’s no surprise that the coming of the new year in the Christian calendar roughly coincides with the winter solstice and pagan Yule traditions which tend to revolve around themes of rebirth and revivification. As such, many of us feel a natural yearning for change as the year draws to a close. While many of us manifest this in our New Year’s Resolutions, don’t wait for the year to change to start making small but meaningful positive changes in your life.

You can even start with something as little but potentially transformative as shaking up your makeup looks. If you feel a longing for change or have never quite been happy with your looks here are some little changes that can potentially make a big difference.

Begin with brows

Your eyebrows are extremely expressive and can have a surprisingly transformative effect on the geography of your face. If you’ve never experimented with your brows before, it’s the perfect place to start.

You might even want to begin by treating yourself to some microblading courtesy of a salon like Bina’s Beauty Bar to get a nice clean shape that’s a strong foundation to build upon. Then try experimenting with different fillers, pencils, putties and waxes. Whatever the natural state of your brows, you can completely transform them with a little knowhow.

Sheer perfection

Many of us have hang ups about our skin that makeup never quite does an adequate job of masking. Whether you’re trying to conquer these qualms or you simply feel like a change, try switching to a slightly sheer foundation. A sheer foundation will give you coverage where you need it while still subtly accentuating the tones of your own skin rather than painting over it. Let your natural beauty shine!

Ear we go

Another little tip that can make a surprising difference to your face? Put a little foundation on your ears. It’ll help them to match the same color as the rest of your skin if your ears are prone to redness which can emphasize them.

Make contouring your friend

Contouring is without a doubt one of the most effective ways to emphasize what you like about your face while downplaying the parts that we’re less than crazy about. The trouble is that there are many people out there who overdo it. And too much contouring stands out like a sore thumb. Thus, if you have yet to attempt it we totally understand why. Elle actually has a really good 4 step guide to contouring that newcomers to this subtle art should check out before they start experimenting.

Bring it with blush

Finally, if you’re not a fan of bronzer, try adding a little blush to your cheekbones to add a little extra definition, especially if you’re likely to be photographed. But don’t opt for the subtle rosy pink. Try something a little darker and more interesting to make a subtle but impressive change!
