If you stick to your skincare rituals, no doubt you have seen the benefits in your face, but what about your feet? Looking after our feet is one of those things that, for some people, is effortless, but for others it requires dedication. Some people find they have a lot of dead skin, even if they are not walking around plenty. But there are simple things you can do to take care of your feet.
Stay Moisturized
A very simple thing, but making sure that you keep your feet moisturized will make a big difference. If you consistently find that foot peeling on bottom areas is an issue, you need to use a moisturizing cream on a regular basis. When you use a moisturizing cream, make sure you avoid the area between the toes. A lot of people have dry skin because they have very little moisture, either because they wear socks or don’t allow their feet to breathe properly, so stay moist (but not too moist, which we’ll talk about below).
Get a Pumice Stone
Another simple thing, especially if you’ve got dry skin at the bottom of your feet, a pumice stone or a foot file can remove the hard skin that builds up and hardens over time. When it comes to using a pumice stone, you have to make sure you aren’t scrubbing too aggressively, if you plan on using a foot file or pumice stone, make sure that you get the skin as soft as possible first, otherwise, you could wear away the skin, which can cause damage to the new skin underneath.
Keeping Your Feet Clean
It sounds obvious, but if you like wearing socks and you cover your feet up a lot, this could be the reason you are getting more issues with your feet than other people. Keeping your feet clean by washing them in warm soapy water is a very simple thing, but make sure that you don’t soak them too much. For example, if you are trying to get rid of dead skin, you should only soak your feet in a special soak once a week. You may be having issues with your skin because you are washing your feet too much, which can remove the natural oils your body produces, and this causes cracked skin and dryness.
Dry Your Feet Properly
If you jump out of the shower and do a cursory dry and then put something on your feet, the heat could result in bacteria building up, which can promote fungal infections such as athlete’s foot. When drying your feet, you need to pay attention to what is between the toes.
Buying the Right Shoes
Finally, making sure that you are wearing the right types of shoes for your feet can make a big difference. You need to make sure that your toes don’t curl too much, which can reduce circulation. It’s always a good idea to be comfortable rather than stylish, especially when your foot health is concerned.
