When you’re going camping, you’re getting far away from the everyday comforts that you’re used to living with, and immersing yourself in nature. It’s a great experience, but that can be easily interrupted if you forget to bring some of the essential gear with you. If you’re not much of a camper and are looking to give it a try – there are just some things that you can’t go without. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got everything you need, else you’ll find your camping trip turning into a struggle.

5 Essentials To Take Camping With You

High power flashlight

Having a flashlight with you at all times is obvious, but any old flashlight won’t do the trick. You don’t want something that’s going to let you down, you want something from EcoGearFX.com or similar. Without a reliable flashlight, you’re going to have a very hard time doing anything after dark. It might also be a good idea to bring a lantern to keep around your tent, just to make sure there’s always some light available when you need it.

Spare batteries

You can’t predict how much charge you’ve got before you set out, and bringing spare batteries for your equipment is a great way to ensure you’re not going to be without them. It can be pretty cumbersome if you need a lot of different batteries, but at least one set of spares should be enough to last you through the trip.

Duct Tape

You might not have considered this yet, but duct tape should be with you every time you travel. There are so many uses for duct tape, that you just can’t afford to be without it, and camping makes it especially important. If anything happens to any of your camping gear, you want to be able to fall back on duct tape to repair it on the fly. It’s not going to make things good as new, but it can help to patch up holes in your tent temporarily, and possibly even keep broken tent poles together for the night. You absolutely cannot go camping without this.

Ice

Bringing a cooler might sound like a bit much when you’re trying to distance yourself from your usual comforts, but you’re going to need it. Any food that you bring with you is going to need to stay edible throughout your trip, and without a cooler that can be quite difficult. Your food may go bad if stuck in the sun. So never forget the ice.

First aid

If you’re going to be far from home, you want to make sure you can look after yourself and prevent any injuries from worsening. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got everything you need from painkillers to bandages. You likely won’t need it, but it’s much better to be safe than sorry. If you or someone else you’re traveling with gets injured you may regret it. Most parents never travel without a first aid kid.
