Ensure You Have Kissable Lips This Summer
Regardless of whether it is a romantic kiss or one of greeting when you meet up with a good friend, no one wants to kiss lips that look chapped and sore. In fact, some people will shy away from your face in case there is some infection they do not want to catch.
Kissing can be fun, it can be sexy and for some people it is essential. You need to ensure that your lips are kissable this summer if you do not want people to pull away instead of giving you a smacker. Taking care of your lips will also make them more comfortable for you, as sore lips can be something you do not need to suffer.
There are ways to make sure that your lips are always inviting, and here are just a few tips to help you on your way.
Stay Hydrated With Water
Drink lots as water. Your lips are one of the first places dehydration will show and you should try to fit in at least eight glasses a day. If you are not too keen on plain water, add a slice of lemon for some flavor. Water is a must for everyone who wants to stay healthy and glowing and that includes keeping your lips in good condition.
Dehydrated lips will start to look thin and will soon start to lose their color and fullness.
Don’t Lick Your Lips
Try to avoid licking your lips. Saliva dry’s out very quickly and it is not as hydrating as water. If it was, all we would all need to do is lick our lips and swallow, but that does not work the way water does. In fact, licking your lips can make them dry out and that is what you are trying to prevent.
Some people lick their lips because it has become a habit, and if this is the case for you, it is a habit you need to break.
Exfoliate Your Lips
This is something you have to do gently to be certain that you do not damage your lips, but it will help to make them smoother than they have ever been. There are two ways to do this. Firstly, you could dip a soft toothbrush in some olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil and gently rub your lips in a circular motion. You will start to see the dead skin flake off, but never pull at it or you will make your lips sore. Try this for a couple of days to remove all the dead skin from your lips.
Another way is to mix some sugar with olive oil, and honey if you want to, and rub your lips in small circles as you would with the toothbrush. Whichever way you choose to smooth your lips, you should always treat them with care and be careful not t over exfoliate.
Use A Lip Balm For Protection
After you have exfoliated your lips you should apply a lip balm to seal them. Use ones with natural oils, shea butter, aloe vera or honey as these will help to moisturize your lips. If they start to feel dry throughout the day, apply some more lip balm, as it is needed.
Lip balms can do so much good for your lips and you should always have some with you in case they start to feel dry or sore at any time.
Lipsticks and Glosses That Last The Day
You should only use good quality lipsticks and glosses or you may undo all the good work you have done with your lips so far. Click here to see a range of lips glosses that will stay looking good all day long. Apply one of these after exfoliating for lips that will look amazing all day long.
Lip-glosses that stay that way are the best option, as then you do not have to keep removing and reapplying them.
Night Care Can Be Crucial
Night can be a great time to give your lips some tender loving care. The dry air caused by heating or air conditioning systems can dry out your lips, as can licking them while you are asleep. Apply a moisturizing lip balm before bed to prevent this from happening. This night protection will mean that you wake up with soft and supple lips that will be a much better start to the day.
Treat your lips with care and they will always look good and inviting, and they will be kissable all summer long.
