Wellness Wednesday: Pilates: Strengthening from the Inside Out by Kat Spinnler

When I explain my job to people, I occasionally get a blank stare. “You teach Pilates? Never heard of it.” “It’s a bit like Yoga,” I say, to nods of recognition. “Only with more focus on the core and your posture.”While Yoga has been around for millennia, Pilates is a newer form of exercise, founded by a German physical trainer, Joseph Pilates, in the early to mid 20th century. But what is the focus of the technique and why should you do regular Pilates classes?

Week One: Always Eat After 7PM- Why I Chose This Diet

As many of you can probably relate, when the gyms and fitness centers temporarily shut down during the pandemic I was unsure about how I was going to stay as active as before. This month would have been my 2 year anniversary of kickboxing. Kickboxing is my favorite workout that I enjoy the most and not being able to go kickboxing has caused irritability, weight gain, and stress. Instead of dwelling on what I can’t control I decided it’s a perfect time to get serious about shedding some excess weight, increasing my energy and just feeling better in general.

Why A Toned Body Achieves The Feminine Shape

Why A Toned Body Achieves The Feminine Shape

Most women can agree, they would rather have a toned body than a body that looks like it lives in the gym. Most women don’t want washboard abs, they want a toned midsection. Would you rather have curvy and full arms or would you rather have ripped and shredded arms? The former option is probably the one you’d sway more to. This is a natural desire for most women because being toned achieves what the classic female look is supposed to be. It’s feminine. It’s not bulky, it’s not ripped, it’s not disproportionate. In other words, it’s not a masculine shape and looks. If some women do want a more bodybuilder type of body, that’s fine too. To each their own. But if you’re one of the women that do want to have a slender, sleek and full-body shape, then being toned is something you need to achieve.

6 Reasons To Work Out That Have Nothing To Do With Looks

Finding reasons to work out that have nothing to do with looks will ultimately lead to the change we are all seeking when we start exercising. I won’t pretend like how you look isn’t a motivator to work out, it definitely is. It’s usually the first motivator for women, but it’s just not enough. There, I said it. If it was, way more people would be pursuing fitness consistently.

Wellness Wednesday: Start Small with Strength Exercises by Leah Custer

Start Small

It only seems appropriate with the time of year to share some workout strategies. Many people decide on New Year’s “I’m going to live healthier”, “I’m going to work out”, “I’m going to lose weight”. The list is endless about losing weight or eating healthy and exercising. For real though, it will not happen overnight and you need to go easy on yourself. Start small and ENJOY it instead pushing too hard, getting overwhelmed and as a result giving up because it’s too hard. Here’s a thought… don’t make it too hard to begin with!
